Makeup artist Deep Lakshmi comes from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh. She was born in a middle-class family. She studied in Banda up to high school, and later completed the rest of her studies and graduation in Jhansi. In 2006, she got married.
After marriage, she started thinking about her career. Deep Lakshmi always had an interest in makeup, but because of studies, she could not focus on it earlier. After marriage, she had no work to do and spent most of her day at home. One day she thought, “Instead of sitting like this, why not do something and stand on my own feet?”
That is when she decided to enter the beauty industry and start her career.
Deep Lakshmi felt like she could also achieve something in life, just like her brother and sister. Her brother is a loco pilot, and her sister works at Yes Madam. Seeing them working and growing, she also wanted to do something. She talked to her husband about it, and he supported her fully. He told her, “Do whatever you want, I am with you.” After this, Deep Lakshmi decided to choose makeup as her career because she always liked it.
Since childhood, Deep Lakshmi enjoyed doing makeup. She joined a small salon in Banda and completed a basic makeup and hair course. She also worked there for some time to practice more. For almost four years, she kept giving makeup and hair services, and slowly her client base increased. She even provided home service to many clients.
Seeing her good work, her husband one day said, “You do makeup so well, why don’t you open your own parlour?”

Deep Lakshmi says that she opened her own GlamUp Beauty Parlour in Banda in 2018. She had finished her makeup and hair course around 2014 and worked for four years to gain experience. During this time, she built a good number of clients. When she opened her parlour, it started doing well.
After two years, COVID hit, and the parlour had to close completely. Still, she continued giving home services during this time, which helped her earn a little money.
Deep Lakshmi said that she always thought about doing makeup, but she wondered why she wasn’t doing makeup for big clients like celebrities or models. Then she searched on Google and felt that she wanted to become a professional makeup artist. After that, she searched for courses on Google, and the first result was Meribindiya International Academy. She really liked the teaching and learning methods of the academy, but at that time, she had financial difficulties, so she couldn’t join the course.
One year later, in 2015, Deep Lakshmi took admission for the Diploma in Makeup and Hair Styling course. After completing this course, she joined an advanced course at the same academy and completed it. Even during the course, she started getting clients. Everyone praised her makeup work. She did her first party makeup for ₹2000, which received very good reviews. After this, Deep Lakshmi returned to Banda from Delhi and opened her own parlour there.
After becoming a makeup artist, my family and people around me started seeing me differently. Earlier, when I went to the salon to learn, people used to say I can’t do anything and am just wasting time. Even when I gave home services, they would comment that I go from house to house to work.
Now, after opening my own parlour and running it successfully, those same people say, “We knew she would do something great.” In a small city like Banda, people love my makeup work and keep coming back. Even in the nearby villages, people say, “Be like Deep Lakshmi.”
Hearing this makes me very happy because all my hard work has finally paid off.
